About Cantley
Location
Cantley is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Cantley, Limpenhoe and Southwood, in the English county of Norfolk. Cantley is within the Broads Special Protection Area. The village lies on the north bank of the River Yare, some 17 km east of the city of Norwich, 15 km south-west of the town of Great Yarmouth and the same distance north-west of the Suffolk town of Lowestoft.
British Sugar
Cantley is well known for its sugar beet factory, constructed in 1912. It is now owned by British Sugar and is one of only four factories responsible for processing all of the UK’s sugar beet crop. The factory supports the local community with projects such as the reconstruction of the village staithe and moorings on the river Yare. They have also provided a donation towards the new village hall.
Cantley Village Hall
At Cantley Village Hall, we provide a space for groups to run regular activities and events. Our hall is available for hire at affordable rates, making it an attractive option for the community. We stand out for our practical and convenient options, making it easy for locals to organize and host events at our hall.
New development
We are currently fundraising for the development of a new village hall for all members of the community to enjoy. Benefits of the new, multipurpose building hope to include a space for PE lessons for pupils of Cantley Primary School, and consulting rooms to enable medical clinics to be run from the hall for residents to attend locally.
