British Sugar has issued a letter to local residents regarding this year's campaign and road closures. Here is what the letter states:

Ahead of the upcoming sugar beet campaign starting at Cantley next week, we would like to share with you the actions we are taking to minimise disruption to local traffic routes. Planning and Prevention We are working closely with National Highways, as they continue their improvement works on the A47. Earlier this month, we shared the recommended diversions with beet growers, hauliers and all other inbound and outbound hauliers too. This route takes traffic on the B1140 when driving to and from the factory from the A47 (see below for details of the recommended diversion route). In addition to this information being circulated digitally, we will be installing signs, on a concreted in post, to stop lorries using Beighton Road. Enforcement As with last year, we will be taking enforcement action against drivers who do not follow the diversions. We have a tiered system in place which ultimately could lead to drivers being banned from the Cantley site for the duration of the campaign. Any concerns? We always aim to be a good neighbour and minimise disruption to local communities and ask that you help us with this. If you see traffic travelling to/from our site not following the recommended diversion routes, please do get in touch. If you can, please take a photo of the vehicle, or note down the registration plate, as this will ensure the vehicle can be identified as quickly as possible, and action taken in a timely manner. We hope this gives you confidence in our planning process but if you have any questions or for sending in photos/registration numbers, please email communications@britishsugar.com.

From National Highways: A47 Blofield to North Burlingham - dual carriageway pre-construction work. On the 16 April 2024 we closed the A47 central reservations that join the B1140 South Walsham Road and Acle Road junctions. The junctions themselves will remain open so road users can still enter or exit from the A47. This will be a permanent closure that will remain until the new bridge over the A47 is constructed.
