On the 15th of October 2025, Cantley Village Hall has received a letter of support from Jerome Mayhew, a member of Parliament for Broadland and Fakenham.

The Village Hall will be able to use this letter of support to accompany our future grant applications.

Here is what the letter states:

To Whom It May Concern,  I am writing in support of the Cantley Village Hall Committee and their plans to deliver a new community facility with dedicated space for health and wellbeing services.  Since 2022, the Committee has raised over £80,000 locally and secured planning permission for a new hall that includes two NHS-specification clinical rooms. This project responds directly to community needs following the closure of Cantley school, leaving the hall as the village’s only community asset. It already hosts new services such as a weekly community shop and attracts residents from across Cantley, Acle, Lingwood, and Reedham.  The proposal aligns with the NHS Long Term Plan’s focus on neighbourhood health centres and represents an innovative model for rural service delivery—repurposing community assets to bring health and social care closer to people. With around £2m still required for construction, external support is now essential to realise this vision.  I strongly endorse this project and commend the leadership and determination shown by the Committee. I encourage funders to back this initiative, which will not only transform provision in Cantley but also provide a model for other rural communities.  Yours sincerely,  Jerome Mayhew MP
